Colt Starting
It all begins with an outstanding foundation. Our colt starting philosophy is to create a series of interactions for your horse that allow them to accept riding for the rest of their life, and go on to succeed in any discipline. We focus heavily on groundwork, desensitization, response to pressure and bomb proofing. Our colt starting program is based on 43 exercises that prepare the horse for the saddle, rider, and instructions from the saddle. While we prioritize acceptance and learning rather than dominance and submission, we use pressure and release as our main teaching tools. We create colts that look to us a leaders and will accept the instructions of their riders over the “panic and run” mindset of their ancestors. Our rating of a successful colt starting program is one that produces a colt that is interactive, responsive but not reactive to pressure, polite and willing to work. We work to create training situation that prevents bucking, rearing, bolting, kicking, and all other dangerous behaviors. Such behaviors are not accepted by us as just part of the training for a young horse and are systematically eliminated through proper preparation and appropriate timing of pressure and release.

Tune-Ups & Problem Solving
Are you training or untraining your horse? So many times we are dedicated to spending time and working with our horse but unless we have a comprehensive training plan that is evident in our daily interactions, then we are accidentally untraining our horse or worse, teaching them unwanted behaviors. When we take on a client’s horse for a tune-up or a problem solving session we will deep dive into the solution as well as a plan to keep the horse and owner on track.
