Protein for Sale: How it works

Step 1: Decide that you want to take control of your food supply chain and support your local rancher/farmer.

Step 2: Learn the rules:

The USDA has determined that it is ILLEGAL for us to slaughter our own cattle, send it to a butcher and then sell the cuts to you, our customer.

However, they have determined that it is LEGAL for us to sell you a whole, or “share” of our cattle to be butchered, then slaughter it on our property, send it to a butcher and then give the pre-sold “share” of the cuts to you, our customer.

Notice that the actual process did not change at all, but the “regulations” only allow us to sell a “whole” or “partial” animal to your our customer.

If we chose to sell USDA certified beef to you as small cuts, the process would include transporting our live animals to a slaughter facility, dropping them off, and not being present for the actual slaughter. Our animals would be stressed in the transportation, we would be limited to the scheduling of the slaughter house and worst of all we would not be able to confirm the low stress handling of our precious animals. For all of those reasons we choose to offer our beef direct to our consumer, as whole beef or “shares.”

You still get the cuts you want, certified safe from the butcher, cut into small easy to handle portions and provided to you through delivery or pick up.

Chicken is LEGAL to sell directly from our ranch to your table.

Step 3: Set Your Budget.

Check out the Beef Cut Sheet and Chicken Sales Flyer and determine the size of your budget. Regardless of your actual budget, we will build a “share” that matches your budget size and preferred cuts. A whole, half, or quarter beef will includes all the cuts that you will find in the sheet below.

Step 4: Reserve your share with 25% Non-Refundable Deposit
